So much for gingham getting country cute. Contemporary product designers and artists alike (see right here and here) have been induced to co-opt the folksy, grid-based fabric for a range of modernized applications—like this suite of desktop stationery products from Australian brand Country Road. And why not? Geometry and repetition, order and symmetry—and, of course, black and white—have been decidedly modernist preoccupations from the begin.
