A wood dining table that weighs much less than 20 pounds is one of the nominees for Designs of the Year 2014, as just announced by London’s Style Museum. Chosen as one particular of 6 nominees in the furnishings category was Benjamin Hubert’s super skinny, ultra-light Ripple table, which was launched at the London Design Festival last fall. Comprised of 3 layers of corrugated birch plywood, the table is meant to be light adequate to be transported and assembled by a single person, and uses about one-third of the wood a standard wooden table of the size would require.
